City of Baltimore: Updates to Planimetric and Topographic Basemaps for Utilities
|
Mercado Consultants, Inc. provided the ground control for updated aerial photography, mapping and LiDAR for the Baltimore City GIS database. The project area encompassed the entire city as well as reservoirs located outside the city. Our tasks included recovery of all surviving original photo control targets from the previous aerial mapping project; densifying and extending the photo control network with additional targets; performing an RTK/GPS survey of the new targets that incorporated the original GPS survey into our network; providing survey recovery reports for recovered and new target points; and we provided a GIS technician to KCI to assist with project QA/QC. |

DDOT: Open End Enginnering and Surveying Contracts
|
We are currently working under DDOT open end engineering and surveying contract POKA-2006-T-0070-CB and have successfully completed previous open end contracts. Projects have included topographic surveys, property acquisition, redevelopment sites, GIS data collection as well as various engineering assignments. These projects have included several large scale mapping efforts such as the South Capitol Street Bridge Replacement Project, the Minnesota Avenue Streetcar Project and the Southwest Waterfront Redevelopment Project.
The Nationals Stadium/South Capitol Street Bridge Replacement EIS Project was the largest survey assignment and included aerial mapping for the Environmental Impact Statement study for the South Capitol Street Bridge Replacement project as well as field run topographic, hydrographic and utility location surveys for preliminary design of the Washington Nationals stadium and the replacement bridge. Mercado Consultants, Inc. provided aerial mapping with digital ortho photos of 980 acres of southeast and southwest Washington, DC. The aerial mapping work included GPS surveys to establish aerial triangulation control points for several flight lines throughout the project area.
In addition to the aerial mapping Mercado Consultants, Inc. provided conventional field run topographic surveys for the stadium area, South Capitol Street and the existing bridge and approaches. This work included conventional and GPS based control traverse and levels throughout the project area to support future survey efforts and to connect both sides of the Anacostia River bridge design work. The field topographic surveys were by "field to finish" electronic data collection using rolling lane closures for South Capitol Street. The field topographic mapping included underground utility designation and location within the stadium area and as-built utility mapping from records for the bridge area.

USDA: Natural Resource Conservation Service Open End Contracts
|
We created and monumented wetland conservation easements for several properties on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Projects typically included liason coordination between property owners and NRCS to determine limits of the property to be acquired, establishing state plane coordinates and benchmarks on the property by GPS survey, property and easement boundary surveys, monumentation of the easement areas and providing property acquisition plats and descriptions. Projects also included a complete 125 acre boundary survey with approximately 200 acres of aerial topography and color ortho photo of Cypress Swamp located along the Pocomoke River.
